Magsaysay Learning Resources, Inc. (MLRI) and HITCON Philippines Technical Solutions Corporation (HITCON PH) are strengthening their partnership to elevate welding skills training in the Philippines, through programs aligned with European standards and ISO 9606 welding qualification requirements.
Under the partnership, MLRI and HITCON PH are developing internationally aligned welding programs designed to strengthen the competencies of Filipino professionals and prepare them for opportunities in Europe. A key initiative is the ongoing Training of Trainers program for welding instructors, attended by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) trainers, forms part of this effort.
The program was recently observed by representatives from the Austrian Embassy – Commercial Section during their visit to Magsaysay training facilities in Dasmariñas, Cavite, on August 14, 2026. The delegation included ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, Austrian Embassy – Commercial Section Commercial Counsellor Arnulf Gressel and Country Manager for International Recruiting April Mendoza. They were joined by HITCON Philippines Technical Solutions Corporation CEO Thomas Hiebaum and CTCWeld CEO Ronny Friedly, and welcomed by Magsaysay People Resources Corporation (MPRC) President Marlon R. Roño.
The delegation toured the facilities and observed the welding equipment, instructional methods, and hands-on activities being used in the program. Discussions also covered Austria’s demand for qualified skilled workers and the importance of technical competencies that meet European standards.
The MLRI-HITCON PH partnership aims to strengthen the preparation of Filipino skilled workers and help create sustainable employment pathways in Austria.
Through standards-based training and strong international partnerships, Magsaysay remains committed to developing globally competitive Filipino professionals equipped to meet the needs of the international workforce.
