Austrian Trade Mission Visits Magsaysay in Cebu to Explore Skilled Worker Partnerships

28 May 2025, Cebu City, Philippines — Magsaysay People Resources Corporation’s (MPRC) business units, Magsaysay Global Services (MGSI) and Magsaysay Center for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (MIHCA), hosted a visit from the Aussen Wirtschaft Trade Mission of Austria. The Trade Mission spearheaded by Internationale Fachkräfte-Offensive (IFO), with its focus on looking into recruiting skilled workers from the Philippines, is composed of delegates from member companies of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.

 

Austrian companies, through the Chamber, and in cooperation with Advantage Austria Philippines, are partnering with trusted recruitment agencies are keen in recruiting Filipino skilled professionals in the healthcare, technology, tourism, IT, and software industries to address the growing need for skilled workers in the European country.

 

“Magsaysay supports over 5,000 workers annually and offers full documentation and recruitment services without requiring travel to Manila—making it a strategic hub for regional talent development,” shared by MGSI President Patrick H. Maxwell during the presentation to the delegates.

 

MPRC President Marion R. Roño highlighted, “Magsaysay has been successfully deploying  workforce to Austria since 2024, including over a hundred workers primarily in hospitality roles. Austria’s appeal as a destination for overseas Filipino workers due to its strong labor protection laws, competitive wages, and opportunities for permanent residency.”

 

The Magsaysay executive hosted a luncheon meeting at MIHCA Cebu — one of Magsaysay’s Training Facilities in the region.

 

MIHCA Cebu has invested on cutting-edge facilities used on the field of cruise ship and hospitality. With its comprehensive world-class culinary arts and hospitality training programs, students and trainees have the exceptional opportunity to learn industry techniques and develop the adaptability needed to thrive in the working place.

 

In addition to the scheduled visit to Magsaysay in Cebu, the Trade Mission engaged in visits to other identified training centers and universities and conducted job fairs.

 

Austrian delegate Maximilian Buchleitner emphasized the group’s interest in understanding Cebu’s workforce landscape and strengthening ties with local institutions. The delegation’s Philippine tour, in coordination with Advantage Austria Philippines, continues to foster partnerships with credible recruitment agencies like Magsaysay to ensure a steady and secure labor supply.

 

Both parties expressed optimism for future collaborations that will open more opportunities for Filipino professionals to thrive in Austria and across Europe’s growing labor markets.
