Rising early to lend a hand and demonstrate the value of “WeCare” for the environment, the Magsaysay People (MPs) took to the shores of Baseco, Beach in Tondo, Manila, and joined the rest of the volunteers at the 2024 International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Drive on September 21.
Over 270 volunteers from across MAGSAYSAY came together and answered the call to preserve the ocean and marine lives by joining the world’s largest volunteer cleanup effort. Anchored to the theme “Clean Seas for the Blue Economy”, this year’s coastal cleanup drive not only aimed to address immediate pollution but also sought to inspire long-term behavioral changes among communities, encouraging everyone to reduce waste and participate in ongoing clean-up initiatives.
With the support of Homer Foundation, Inc. (HFI) and the Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) Department, MAGSAYSAY has been joining ICC for six years now, rallying volunteers composed of employees, seafarers, cadets, family members, and stakeholders.
Besides being involved in the shipping industry where the ocean is the lifeline, MAGSAYSAY’s love for the ocean runs deep.
MAGSAYSAY is proud of its bayanis (heroes), individuals who embody our core value of “We Care” through volunteerism. Thank you to all the MPs for the hard work, time, effort, and energy in making this year’s International Coastal Cleanup Drive a success.
