Magsaysay Institute of Shipping hosted the basic engine operation and maintenance training of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) opening its door to sharing the knowledge and skills that will empower the Filipino seafarers.
MIS welcomed at the campus the 32 personnel from PCG Multi-Role Response Vessel (MRRV) Engine and Machinery Department to a 15-day classroom training. Part of the 28-day course for the 97-meter MRRV, the 13 days of hands-on training, on the other hand, was conducted at the Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas (Ship of the Republic of the Philippines), or BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701) and BRP Melchora Aquino (MRRV-9702) docked at the Pier 13 of South Harbor, Manila.
The rigorous training on operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of MRRV engines capped off on March 30 on the vessel. Gracing the ceremony were Magsaysay Institute of Shipping (MIS) management who are strong proponents of maritime safety and security.
