The Philippine Daily Inquirer celebrated the remarkable achievements of women at the 2024 INQUIRER WOMEN OF POWER (WOP) Awards, held at the Seda Hotel in BGC, Taguig. Among the 38 distinguished honorees was Doris Ho, President and CEO of the Magsaysay Group, whose contributions left an indelible mark in her field and our very own Magsaysay World community.
Now in its second year, the WOP Awards recognize women who embody excellence, community impact, and inspiration. Resonating with the theme, “Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges: A Tribute to Women’s Leadership and Resilience”, the awardees were carefully selected by the newspaper’s senior editors, ensuring a diverse representation of accomplishments across various domains.
Doris has made her mark in the male-dominated shipping industry with her views and advocacies on the empowerment of women in the Philippines and in the betterment of the lives of Filipinos. Last year, she was appointed as Chair of Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association (Bermuda), making history as the first woman in the role among the International Group of the P&I Club’s 12 members. Like her late mother, Anita Magsaysay-Ho, she is an inspiration to women, shaping environments, institutions, and communities that celebrate Filipino values, their contributions to society, and the families that inspire them.
Sandy Prieto-Romualdez, CEO of the Inquirer Group of Companies, presented the awards, emphasizing the importance of recognizing women who drive positive transformation. Ms. Ho’s presence, among the honorees, exemplifies the power of women to effect change and inspire generations to come.
The 2024 WOP Awards stand as a testament to the resilience, creativity, and vision of women like Doris, whose contributions continue to shape our world.
Congratulations to Doris Ho and to all the awardees for their outstanding accomplishments!
