The Magsaysay Institute of Shipping (MIS) marked another milestone in its partnership with the International Maritime Employers’ Council (IMEC) as Batch 8 of its Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) Course Training Program graduated on September 21, 2026, at the MIS training facility in Cavite.
The graduation follows IMEC’s formal partnership with MIS for the ETO Program earlier this year. Designed to address the evolving technical requirements of the maritime industry, the program provides specialized training in ship electrical and electronic systems, main propulsion and auxiliary machinery, automation, and control engineering operations.
Magsaysay People Resources Corporation (MPRC) President Marlon R. Roño highlighted the growing demand for ETO competencies on board modern vessels and expressed appreciation for IMEC’s support of the program.
IMEC CEO Francesco Gargiulo encouraged the graduates to complement their technical expertise with professionalism, reliability, and strong character as they begin their maritime careers.
During the ceremony, graduates were also recognized for their achievements and performance throughout the program.
The event provided an opportunity for the trainees to reflect on their journey through the ETO program, which combined classroom instruction, technical training, and practical applications aligned with international maritime standards.
With Batch 8 completing the program, the MIS-IMEC partnership continues to help prepare future electro-technical officers for the maritime industry, supporting the development of specialized skills needed aboard increasingly advanced vessels.
