Magsaysay reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the welfare, wellness, and long-term development of Filipino seafarers and their families through a series of initiatives held in celebration of the Day of the Seafarer.
The celebration began with another milestone following its recognition as the Safety4Sea 2026 Crew Manager Award recipient for its continued efforts in promoting seafarer welfare. The recognition reflects Magsaysay’s long-standing commitment to placing people at the heart of its operations and supporting seafarers not only in their careers, but also in their personal, emotional, and family life.
“At MAGSAYSAY, crew welfare is more than a program—it is a responsibility we carry with deep respect for the seafarers who keep global trade moving,” the company shared. “We believe that seafarers thrive when they are supported holistically, both onboard and at home.”
Central to MAGSAYSAY’s crew welfare initiatives is the Magsaysay Total Enrichment & Resilience System (MATTERS), an integrated welfare framework designed to support seafarers through programs focused on safety, mental wellness, lifelong learning, financial wellness, digital accessibility, career advancement, and family engagement. Through MATTERS, MAGSAYSAY continues to build a stronger support system for Filipino seafarers and their families.
As part of the Day of the Seafarer celebration, MAGSAYSAY brought together government agencies and bank partners to make essential services more accessible to its crew. The commemoration was made more meaningful through a Holy Mass and a bloodletting activity conducted in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, which recorded an inspiring turnout of 93 volunteers, 70 of whom were successful blood donors.
The celebration served as a heartfelt tribute to the dedication, sacrifices, and invaluable contributions of Filipino seafarers—not only at sea, but also in their homes, families, and communities.
