MPRC President Marlon R. Roño Named Chairman of Joint Manning Group

Magsaysay People Resources Corporation (MPRC) President Marlon R. Roño, concurrent President of the Philippine-Japan Manning Consultative Council, Inc. (PJMCC), has been elected Chairman of the Joint Manning Group (JMG) for the 2026–2027 term. The JMG Officers and Board of Trustees were elected on January 23, 2026, at the Manila Yacht Club.

In his leadership role at MAGSAYSAY, MRR has consistently advanced strong industry–government collaboration, actively engaging with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), JMG, Filipino Association for Mariners’ Employment, Inc. (FAME), and PJMCC to promote policies and programs that strengthen crew welfare, regulatory compliance, and sustainable workforce development. His election to chair JMG further reinforces this shared commitment to cohesive industry representation and responsible leadership.

On February 10, 2026, the newly elected JMG leadership, together with FAME’s new officers, paid a courtesy visit to the DMW Central Office in Mandaluyong City. The induction ceremony was presided over by Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, formally marking the start of the new leadership term.

During the engagement, DMW, JMG, and FAME reaffirmed their shared commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of Filipino seafarers. Secretary Cacdac also noted ongoing discussions on updated sea-based regulations and a new standard employment contract aimed at strengthening seafarer protections and benefits.

Through MRR’s leadership and the continued collaboration among maritime stakeholders, the sector remains firmly positioned to uphold high standards of governance, safeguard crew welfare, and sustain the global competitiveness of Filipino seafarers.
