Magsaysay joined Mitsui Ocean Cruises in celebrating a new milestone with the naming of Mitsui Ocean Sakura on September 16, 2026, at the Yokohama Hammerhead Cruise Terminal in Japan.
The ceremony marked the newest addition to the Mitsui Ocean Cruises fleet, joining Mitsui Ocean Fuji, which entered service in 2024.
As the official manning partner of Mitsui Ocean Cruises, Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC) currently supports hundreds of Filipino cruise and hospitality professionals serving onboard the company’s vessels. The visit also provided an opportunity for Magsaysay to engage with Filipino crew members and check on their welfare and working conditions.
Following the ceremony, Mitsui Ocean Sakura commenced operations with domestic voyages across Japan. The vessel offers a range of onboard experiences designed to showcase Japanese hospitality and culture while providing guests with an elevated cruise experience.
