Doris Ho Receives Honorary Degree from Pratt Institute

Pratt Institute recently held commencement exercises for the Class of 2024, honoring the achievements of graduating students and bestowing honorary degrees on Sarah Elizabeth Lewis, Doris Magsaysay Ho, and John Pai.

Held on May 15 in the grand setting of Radio City Music Hall, Pratt Institute alumna Doris Magsaysay Ho (Doctor of Humane Arts) and Magsaysay Group President and CEO, in accepting her honorary degree, expressed gratitude for her education at Pratt, which “helps all of us to see the world through different, caring eyes.”

In her address to the graduates, Doris said: “As you listen to today’s urgent cries of division and discontent, of pain and protest, may you design and create even more intensely, more beautifully, more inclusively, and more boldly than ever before,” ending with a call to “build the best society for humanity to thrive, a place full of hope, where the truest AI is not artificial intelligence, but our authentic imagination, ingenuity, and intrepidness.”

A world-class and internationally ranked college with programs in art, design, architecture, liberal arts and sciences, and information studies, Pratt offers nearly 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Doris holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute in New York.
