The MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA) celebrated its 8th Founding Anniversary on September 11, 2026, bringing together cadets, faculty and staff, alumni, and partners to mark another milestone in maritime education and leadership development.
The anniversary followed a year of significant achievements for the Academy. MMMA held its Third Commencement Exercises for 184 graduates, while 279 cadets from Batch 2023 advanced to shipboard training.
MMMA also continued to expand learning opportunities through international collaborations and exchange programs with partner institutions in Japan, supported by the TK Foundation Scholarship Program and WAISER’s Pay-It-Forward Program. Furthermore, the Academy strengthened industry-academe engagement through its annual Dining-In Ceremony, which brought maritime leaders and professionals together with cadets to share valuable insights and experiences.
The year also saw MMMA cadets earn recognition in academic and extracurricular competitions, including representation among the Ten Outstanding Maritime Students of the Philippines and strong performances in various competitive events.
In addition, the Academy continued its successful audits and reviews with Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), and Magsaysay MOL Marine, Inc. (MMMI). MMMA also welcomed International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez during the year.
Recognizing the People Behind the Academy
MMMA honored seven faculty and staff members with Five-Year Loyalty Awards for their service, alongside the recipients of the Best Faculty Awards for Academic Year 2025–2026.
These recognitions highlighted the dedication of educators and personnel who continue to support cadet development, academic excellence, and the Academy’s mission of shaping future maritime professionals.
From the Academy to the Sea
A testimonial from an MMMA graduate offered insights on life at sea and the transition from cadetship to a professional maritime career.
The program also highlighted performances and cultural presentations by members of the MMMA community, while celebrating the Academy’s recent recognitions at the ASEAN Cultural Show 2026, where MMMA received awards in ambassadorial, cultural, and creative categories.
The celebration concluded with an anniversary toast, bringing together cadets, graduates, faculty and staff, alumni, partners, and stakeholders who have been part of MMMA’s journey.
As it marks its eighth year, MMMA continues to strengthen its role in developing future maritime professionals through quality education, industry partnerships, and programs that prepare cadets for careers in the global maritime industry.
