The MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA) officially welcomed 208 new cadets into its Corps of Cadets during a ceremony held on July 31, 2026, at the MMMA Gymnasium in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, marking the successful completion of the Academy’s six-week Cadet Candidate Orientation Program (CCOP).
The ceremony marked the start of a new chapter for the Academy’s newest cadets, who will begin Academic Year 2026–2027 after completing CCOP, an orientation program designed to help candidates transition into academy life while developing the discipline, leadership, teamwork, and values expected of future maritime professionals.
Admission into MMMA remains highly competitive. From 5,024 applicants nationwide, only 265 candidates qualified to participate in CCOP, which commenced on June 22. Throughout the six-week program, they participated in a structured program that combined physical training, leadership development, academic orientation, and character formation. Upon successfully completing the program, 208 candidates earned the distinction of becoming official MMMA cadets.
Families and loved ones joined the celebration as they witnessed the candidates reach this important milestone. The Academy also opened its campus to parents and guests for an open house, giving them the opportunity to visit the campus, spend time with the cadets, and celebrate together during a family picnic.
In the weeks leading up to the ceremony, the candidates gradually adapted to the rhythm of academy life. They learned to work as a team, embraced new responsibilities, and developed the discipline expected of future officers. More than preparing them for their academic journey, CCOP introduced them to the values and culture that define life at MMMA.
As the newest members of the Corps of Cadets begin their academic journey, they do so with the support of their families, mentors, and the entire Academy community. While the ceremony marked the end of CCOP, it also signaled the beginning of their journey toward becoming future maritime leaders.
