Over 500 members of the MAGSAYSAY community gathered at SM By the Bay Central Park on September 20 to take part in the 40th International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), the world’s largest volunteer effort dedicated to protecting oceans and coastlines. Dressed in blue, green, and white, the MAGSAYSAY team joined thousands of volunteers worldwide in this annual environmental initiative.
Armed with gloves, sacks, and plenty of #WeCare spirit, participants collected litter and marine debris, contributing to the protection of marine life, coastlines, and local communities. This year’s turnout was among the largest yet, reflecting MAGSAYSAY’s growing commitment to environmental responsibility and collective action.
The cleanup was organized by the MAGSAYSAY Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) team in partnership with Homer Foundation. Participants included MPs from A. Magsaysay, Inc. (AMI), Magsaysay People Resources Corporation (MPRC), Magsaysay Shipping and Logistics (MSL), Global Process Manager (GPM), and Travel Group, as well as MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA) cadets and staff, South African trainees from Magsaysay Training Center (MTC), members of the Magsaysay Wives’ Club, families, friends, and partners.
Adding to the day’s energy, members of the Magsaysay Children’s Chorale performed, inspiring volunteers as they worked along the shoreline.
The cleanup not only helps protect marine life from entanglement, ingestion, and toxic pollution but also ensures safer, healthier spaces for communities and future generations. From first-time cadets to returning officers, the event highlighted that every hand counts in protecting the ocean. With hearts full, bags filled, and spirits high, the MAGSAYSAY community left the shorelines cleaner than they found them — a true reflection of the company’s #WeCare spirit in action.
