Magsaysay Institute of Shipping (MIS), the leading institution in maritime training for technical and vocational programs marked its 30th year by gathering its alumni, staff and faculty, and management through a virtual celebration on April 28.
The celebration highlighted MIS’ milestones, plans, as well as messages from leaders and founders. MIS leaders thanked their alumni for their unwavering support and dedication, as well as MPs, for their passion for pursuing maritime education and technical-vocational programs. Some notable alumni who made remarkable achievements and those who continuously served onboard were also recognized.
MIS was founded in 1992 by Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), Hong Kong’s Fairmont Shipping, and Philippines’ Magsaysay. The institution has produced Master Mariners and Chief Engineers, who continuously served onboard while some took the role of shipping administrators ashore.
MIS will continue to open its doors in expanding its technical-vocational programs, specialized maritime technical courses, and statutory programs with its recently acquired accreditation from the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).
